If you're like most people, insurance is complicated and can be very confusing. Usually, you get the bill, you pay it, and forget it ... hoping you have the right coverage and that the price you're paying is competitive.
"Sorry. Your policy doesn't cover this claim."
That's the last thing you want to hear from your agent if you've just suffered a great loss. So we do everything we can to prevent having that painful conversation.
We have found the odds of hearing those words decreases dramatically for those who take advantage of a "Ross Review".
What we've learned over more than 50 years in the insurance business is that many people know that they have insurance, but they don't really know what coverage they have. What's worse is that they don't know what coverage they don't have, and they only discover what they're lacking when they actually suffer a terrible loss. That's why we've designed the "Ross Review".
Now, if you're like most people, insurance is not on your Top 10 List of favorite things to think about or to discuss with your friends while you're watching the Phillies on a summer night. You receive a constant barrage of messages on television, radio, newspaper, internet and even as you sit in the movie theatre waiting for the previews … each one touting a cute little mascot or some other quirky character to get you to remember their brand. But in spite of all that noise, and the millions upon millions of dollars spent trying to get your attention, chances are you get the bill for your auto or homeowner's insurance, grumble something under your breath about having to pay for something you rarely if ever use, and you send in your payment.
You probably figure that you've been with the same outfit for years, and things haven't really changed much, and hey, insurance is insurance. Sure, maybe you could save a couple bucks, but it's a great big hassle and just not worth fussing with. Am I ringing a bell here?
Well, chances are you've also not heard from your agent in some time. Maybe years! And although it may not seem like it, your lifestyle has most likely changed over time, and odds are the plan that you put in place to protect your personal assets (or your business for that matter!) is probably outdated. Insurance is one of those things that really doesn't matter … until it does! Then suddenly you get a very unpleasant surprise and ask, "Why didn't my agent tell me I was overpaying?" Or worse, "Why didn't anyone warn me I didn't have the right coverage?" That kind of worry would keep anyone up at night.
We're determined to change that. Although we've been doing this for our clients for over 50 years, we are stepping up our efforts and are now offering to both clients and prospective clients what we call a "Ross Review".
What we do is to examine your current program very thoroughly, compare it with your current living situation and lifestyle, and quickly show you where your insurance dollars can be used most efficiently to provide you with the best protection value. Then we take that program and shop with dozens of the best insurance companies in the world to be sure you are getting the most competitive price available.
We take a look at the insurance limit on your home to be sure it has kept pace with increased "Replacement Cost". We ask about things of particular value that may need to be itemized, such as jewelry, silverware, guns, antiques or collectables. We make sure your liability limits on both auto and home are adequate in case you find yourself on the wrong end of a lawsuit, and we make sure that you have looked at the benefits of a personal umbrella policy. We also clarify the murky waters of flood insurance along with backup of water, sewer or drains and sump pump failure coverage. These events may be rare, but when they happen, they can be devastating. Let me tell you, there is a long list of folks who were very happy they had a "Ross Review" prior to the September monsoon last year!
So think about that. How many different insurance companies does your agent represent? And when's the last time your agent called you to ask you in to review your policies and show you potential cost-savings?
When new or prospective clients come to see us, we often find that their current agents have ignored them. Too many times, their coverages are too low in critical areas, and they're paying for duplicate coverage in other areas. Many times there are discounts available that their agents have not made them aware of … safe driver discounts, bundled policy discounts, good student discounts, and discounts for students living over 50 miles from home. Just the fact that you may now be driving fewer miles to work can end up saving hundreds of dollars per year! Often these savings go unrealized because people are reluctant to change or feel it's just not worth the time and effort.
Well, we're here to tell you that it absolutely is worth gathering up your current policies and stopping in for your"Ross Review". Sorry, no cute characters or mascots, and no gimmicks to catch your attention, but you will walk away with a clear understanding of what you have and what you don't have, and you'll get straight-forward, plain-English advice on how to best protect your and your family's lifestyle and financial security. And if our experience is any judge, you'll come away with significant cost-savings to boot!
